Darcy A. Shoop concentrates her practice in family law and is one of the Washington D.C. area’s most experienced Collaborative Practice attorneys. Although skilled in representing clients in a court-based process, her practice is dedicated to helping families navigate the difficult transitions that are inherent in divorce through the respectful, solution-based Collaborative process. She assists her clients in identifying and attaining goals that are future-focused and child friendly. Collaborative Practice allows clients to retain control over their lives while helping the family develop mutually agreeable and durable resolutions to those issues of most importance to them.

In April of 2010, Ms. Shoop was recognized by Bethesda Magazine as one of the Top 25 Divorce Lawyers in Montgomery County, Maryland, and specifically for Collaborative Practice.  In 2009, Ms. Shoop was named by Washingtonian Magazine as one of Washington’s Top 88 Divorce Attorneys, and as one of the Top 1% of attorneys in the entire Washington D.C. area - a recognition she received in 2007 as well. She also was listed by Super Lawyers as one of the top 25 women attorneys in the D.C. Metropolitan area in 2010, and as one of the top 50 lawyers and top 25 women lawyers in the State of Maryland in 2010.  She was listed as a Maryland Super Lawyer in 2008 and 2009 as well.  In addition, Ms. Shoop has been recognized in the Washington Post Magazine as one of the Best Lawyers in America in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Ms. Shoop is the founding and Past-President of Maryland Collaborative Practice Council - the state-wide umbrella organization, and is the founding and Past-President of the Collaborative Divorce Association, Inc. - the first collaborative practice group in Montgomery County. She has been quoted in the Washington Post Magazine, Bethesda Magazine, and in Collaborative Divorce Handbook - Helping Families Without Going to Court by Forrest Mosten.  Ms. Shoop is often invited to and speaks regularly on the topic of Collaborative Practice addressing Bar Associations, Collaborative Practice groups and other professional organizations throughout the Washington Metropolitan area.
